After spending 6 years selling egg rolls and salad rolls at the Bayview and Greenbank farmer's markets here on Whidbey Island, Kim and Randy Sittner took over the restaurant on the Coupeville Wharf and renamed it Kim's Café. Kim was born in Saigon, Vietnam and so Vietnamese food is the backbone of the restaurant. In addition to Kim's popular salad rolls Kim's Cafe also features Pho' (beef or chicken noodle soup), Banh Xeo (a savory crepe) and Bun (meat and noodle salads). However, Kim has travelled the globe as an "Embassy Brat" with her diplomatic father, as a result her passion for cooking is not limited to Southeast Asia - dishes from South America, Italy, Mexico and elsewhere are often on the specials board.
Kim has also learned the art of American comfort food cooking by adapting generations-old recipes from Randy's side of the family. Randy's Grandmother, Goldie Beard, was a wonderful cook and a great inspiration for Kim. Our clam chowder is made from Grandma Goldie's family recipe.
