Mail Categories in iOS-18
In December 2024 Apple released iOS 18.2 which included several Apple AI features. One of them was to give incoming emails categories and display them in a new way.

The four new categories are:

Primary | Messages that matter the most |

Transactions | Receipts, Orders, and Deliveries |

Updates | News, Subscriptions, and Social |
 |
Promotions | Special offers, deals, and more |
The categories are listed in the inbox in that order.

Removing Categories
If you prefer to see you emails without these categories you can turn them off. at the in the email app, go to the inbox and then click on the ellipses:
and then select the List View instead of the Categories.
Choose Categories or List.
