Apple Watch Smart Stacks

CONTENTS

Introduction

With Apple Watch's new Operating System (watchOS 10) Smart Stacks were introduced that give your watch new and useful capabilities. Many Apple apps can now be set up as widgets and used in the Smart Stacks. At the present time non Apple Apps will not work.

Basics

To see the stacks simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen, or rotate the crown up. Your watch should look something like this:

and show the top most widgets. Note that there will be a set of default widgets when you first use the Smart Stacks.

Either sliding you finger up on the screen or using the bevel will scroll down through the other widgets that you have set up, like this:

Clicking on one if the widgets will put more information on the screen. For example, clicking on the globe (in the top right of the above scree) will show the following:

A new widget can be moved to the top of the list of widgets by holding down on it until a yellow pin shows up on the right side of the widget. Clicking on the pin will pin it to the top of the list the same way as pinning an item in Notes keeps it at the top.

Once a widget has been pinned, it will have a yellow mark on the left to tell you that it is pinned, like the calendar above.

The Stacks will tend to reorder themselves based on how often you use them.

Some apps will have more than on possible style. In this case all the possible styles will be presented so that you can chose the one that you prefer. An example is the Calendar has the Day and date, or the schedule for the day.

Deleting Widgets

The Stacks coms with several standard Widgets. You have also probably added some widgets. When you want to delete on of them you should scroll to it and then long press on it. A red minus sign will appear on the left of the widget (alo=so the pin appears in yellow on the right). Simply tap on the red delete icon. For example, the red icon on the music App below;
